Returns and Refunds
We offer a 30-day money back guarantee on all Our (regularly priced) current year products.  We do not refund sale items or discounted prior year products.
All products are marked with a pick or processing date.

So, for example:  You purchase a 1oz bag of Calendula with a pick date of 2019 in October of 2021.  This is considered a Prior Year product, and therefore is not eligible for return.

Your item must be returned in its original, unused, sealed packaging.  Packaging that appears to be tampered with or is otherwise crushed will not be eligible for return.  Perishable goods (syrups, honeys, oils and fresh herbs which include foliage or root material) as well as gift certificates are not eligible for return. Due to the nature of our products, we cannot exchange items unless the original order was received defective or damaged.  If you need to exchange an item that was damaged in shipment, please contact us to initiate the process.

***Please contact us to initiate the return on any product. ***
*The item/s must be returned in the original, unused, and sealed packaging.
*Initial and return postage/shipping costs are not refundable.
*All returns must be submitted with a copy of the original receipt/proof of purchase.
*Glass items should be packed and padded well to ensure they do not break in return transit.  Glass items that arrive to us broken will not be refunded.
*You may return the item in the same shipping box.  Please make sure to mail the package to us within 5 business days of initiating the return.  You are responsible for return postage.

Once we receive and inspect your return submission, we will notify you in an email stating that the return has been approved or rejected.  If approved, you will receive an email regarding the refund status.  Your refund will then be processed and a credit issued to your original method of payment within 3 business days (not including holidays).  If the purchase was made in cash/check, you must be able to pick up the refund locally OR it will be applied as a credit on your account.

In the event that the refund goes missing or is unreasonably late, follow these steps:
*Check the date the refund was issued in your email notification.
*Check your bank or credit card account statement again.
*Contact your Bank or Credit Card Company.  There may be reasons they are delaying the posting of the refund.
*** Once you have gone through all these steps, and you still cannot track down your refund, please contact us at www.backcountryherbs@gmail.com .

Shipping
Backcountry Herbs is a small local business with a very limited staff (Currently just little ‘ole me!).  We make every effort to ensure your purchase leaves our facility within 2 business days (not including weekends or holidays) from receiving a completed paid order.  We will not package an order until it is completely paid.

We generally do not prepackage our herbs.  To ensure the highest freshness of our dried herbs, they are kept in glass jars and only packaged as an order is received.  We cannot guarantee a specific shipping or delivery dates.  You will receive email updates regarding your order status and tracking information.

WE DO NOT OFFER SALES TO REGIONS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES AT THIS TIME.

Pre-Orders and Backorders
Due to the nature of our business (which is fully dependent on Nature) we do not offer Backorders.  Our East Idaho short growing season presents stocking challenges for the way we do business.  We have limited and seasonal availability of the quality herbs we offer.  If you see an herb you like in our offerings, get it while you can, because it might not be available later.  And once they go Out of Stock, they won’t be available until the next growing season.

We do offer Pre-Orders on seasonally available fresh (Local pick up only) and dried herbs.  We generally will give notice when herbs are coming available for harvesting on our FB page.  You may pre-order at that time.  Herbs that are offered as a pre-order are marked within the Shop tab but you must contact us to request the specific herb and the quantity you want to pre-order.  All Pre-orders MUST be fully paid before they will be considered

IF for some reason we are not able to fulfill your order due to the availability or quality of the herbs, you will receive a full refund.  Unfortunately, we do not offer shipping on fresh herbs at this time.  There is just no good way to get them to customers in a short period of time and ensure the quality we strive to maintain.

Storing and Preservation
We hope you are completely satisfied with our products. Please keep in mind that we do not use artificial preservatives in our products, so their shelf life is limited.  Use up their yummy goodness while they are fresh. Here are a few tips for keeping your herbs and products fresh:

* Dried Herbs.  Transfer your quality herbs to a clean glass jar with an airtight lid. Store in a cool, dark place away from moisture/humidity and sunlight.  We recommend you use them within 1-2 years of the pick date.
* Syrups and Oxymels should be refrigerated for longer shelf life. Shake well before using. Discard if any off-smelling aroma, discoloration or cloudiness occurs. We recommend you use these within 6- 8 months from the date noted on each package label.
* Oils should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Discard if any off-smelling aroma, cloudiness or discoloration occurs. We recommend you use these within 3 months from the date of purchase.
* Honey’s and Salves are good indefinitely. Discard if any off aroma or discoloration occurs.
* Tinctures are good up to 5 yrs.  Store in a cool dry place out of sunlight.
* Aloe Vera gel can be stored frozen for up to 3 months from the date of purchase years. Once thawed the gel should be refrigerated and used up within a week from purchase.
